Install up to four SATA hard drives into this compact housing and connect them via a single cable to each of the computers you require with the high-value eSATA II interface. You can access the hard drives either as stand-alone hard drives or combine several of the drives into a single big drive. You can either create big drives with up to four TeraBytes in size or just run several SATA drives in a single housing or build an external quick RAID system.

• If your computer does not have an appropriate eSATA II interface, LINDY also supplies appropriate controllers with PCI-e, PCI-X/PCI- interface (see section PC plug-in cards / IDE / SATA controllers, for notebooks. See PCMCIA- and Express cards. More extensive information on the SATA / eSATA interface can be found in the Tips section)
• for installing up to four 3.5" SATA hard drives
• Operating mode of the hard drives (Stand Alone, JBOD or RAID / Combined Mode) individually configurable using the management utility software, e.g..:
• JBOD, four separate drives as individual volumes
• RAID 0 (Fast Mode): The controller distributes all data evenly across the 4 drives thus improving read/write performance. However, if one drive fails, all the data are gone.
• RAID 1 (Safe Mode): The controller writes the same data to two drives thus the data is more secure. If either of the two drives fails, the data will still be available (mirror-imaging can be adjusted for 1&2 or 3&4)
• RAID 1+0 (Safe & Fast): Drives 1&2 and 3&4 are mirrored. At the same time, the Controller distributes all data evenly across the two mirror sets to increase write/read performance
• On mirrored hard drives (RAID 1), the controller has an Auto-On-Line rebuild function which automatically restores the data from a faulty drive to a newly inserted one.
• Status LEDs for the hard drives and the controller in the front panel
• Power supply with On/Off switch
