The Lindy 4K30 HDMI® & USB over IP system is a powerful solution for creating a wide range of bespoke, distributed AV and KVM installations. The system comprises Encoder (No. 38396) and Decoder (No. 38397) modules and a separate Controller module (No. 38395). All modules are sold separately so you can build and scale according to your requirements.
One HDMI® source, such as a PC or Media Player, connects to a single Encoder module; one HDMI® display connects to a single Decoder module (No. 38397). Multiple Encoders and Decoders can be combined for a variety of multicast distribution options. The controller module is used to manage the full installation and direct the multiple sources to the multiple displays giving maximum creative freedom and customisation options. All the modules can be connected to a 1G managed switch to create a network of connected devices.
Additionally, the system supports USB KVM control access for each connected module, so connected PCs at the Encoder end can be controlled by KVM consoles at the remote Decoder end.
As well as single display options, combining multiple Decoders and their connected displays allows the user to create impressive video wall and matrix solutions.
This extender system provides JPEG2000 main stream and H.264/H265 codec secondary stream which supports API commands to achieve flexible configurations including from third party control apps.
The system requires a layer3 1G managed network switch supporting IGMP snooping and 8K Jumbo frame. With the PoE function it is also possible to power the unit without a PSU.
The Lindy Cat.6 DisplayPort 1.2 & USB HDBaseT KVM Extender is an high-end, reliable solution for extending high quality 4K DisplayPort signals over long distances with standard Cat.6 network cable.
This extender also supports lossless audio formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD to add powerful multi-channel sound to video content, providing an enhanced experience and sense of immersion for the viewer. USB KM connectivity via 2 USB HID ports allow for a keyboard and mouse at the receiver to control a DP equipped PC from a remote PC setup, which can be stored in a secure or controlled temperature environment, while seamlessly providing consistent video content from the source.
Featuring bi-directional IR ports at both sides of the setup, the source equipment can be seamlessly controlled from the display side, and the display can also be controlled from the DisplayPort source device. RS-232 connections also allow for integration into pre-installed control systems. In addition, PoC (Power over Cable) functionality provides additional flexibility. This allows power to be supplied alongside data through Cat.6 network cable in a point-to-point connection between the transmitter and receiver, meaning only a single power supply is required at the transmitter or receiver unit. Ideal for example when power outlets are limited at the receiver end of the installation.
The extenders built-in EDID function ensures maximum compatibility with the display or projector at the receiver, further enhancing this system focus on providing high quality 4K DP content over distances easily and with minimum hassle for the user.
Please Note: keep the units in a cool and dry place. If the extender has to stay in a closed and small area, please ensure that the operating temperature is within the range shown in technical specifications.

KVM components allow the control of multiple computers via a central console consisting of keyboard, video, and mouse. Lindy offers KVM switches, KVM extenders, LCD KVM consoles, and rackmount variants. The products are used in server rooms, broadcast studios, control rooms, and industrial control systems.
What is the difference between a KVM switch and a KVM extender?
A KVM switch connects one console to multiple computers. A KVM extender extends the connection between a computer and a console over long distances via Cat.6 or fiber.
What is an LCD KVM console used for?
An LCD KVM console combines keyboard, touchpad, and display in a single rack unit and serves as a space-saving maintenance workstation for servers and KVM switches in a 19-inch rack.
Can KVM switches be cascaded?
Selected rackmount KVM switches support cascading, significantly increasing the number of controllable computers relevant for larger server environments.
